I just joined the HUGGER’s one of my friends told me there is a gathering tomorrow at 4 PM at the conservatory I would like to attend this event. How do I go about it?
Response:
Jutta has an email address that is not associated with a Google account which is required to receive emails in any Google Group, including HSCMail.
Jutta, apologies for the inconvenience. If you already have a Google account, please refer to the info below to help you associate your yahoo account with a Google account.
In order to receive email from and participate in Huggers email groups, you must have a Google account but you don’t necessarily need to have a Gmail account.
If you don’t already have a Google Account, you can create one and either also create a Gmail email account or you can use a non-Gmail email address to create one instead. By the way, while creating a Google account you’ll need a phone number to which text messages can be sent by Google.
To use an existing email address instead of a new Gmail:
1. Go to the Google Account Sign In page at https://www.google.com/account/
2. Click Create account
3. From the drop down, select For my personal use
4. Enter your name
5. Click Use my current email address instead
6. Enter your current email address
7. Click Next
8. Verify your email address with the code sent to your existing email
9. Click Verify

On December 24, 2025 at 6:28 am James Blum (blumjim@gmail.com) submitted the following comment about [2027 Ski Trips]:
Hello fellow Upstate NY ski club and NJSSC member. I am the trip coordinator for the Rochester Ski Club. We will be meeting soon to plan 2027 ski trips. Post Covid we have had difficulty filling our “long” Western ski trips. I am wondering if there would be interest in several of the ski clubs in Upstate NY collaborating on a long trip in 2027? Please let me know your thoughts?
Sincerely,
Jim Blum
Rochester Ski Club Trip Committee Coordinator
Response:
Jim, Good thought but perhaps too late. We do have a downhill ski coordinator who I am sure would be interested in trying to plan inter-club trips, but I think this really needs to be done late summer-early fall. Most people that are the avid skiers already have their ski trips on the docket. For instance, my wife and I
leave on our 1st trip Jan 17th-24th. Many in our club have the IKON or other pass and are going on the NJSSC trips this season. I do know there is at least one person looking for a western trip, see comment below. I do think collaboration between WNY clubs would be great to schedule local day trip skiing. I have always said we should do this to get enough numbers to get good group discounts at Holimont, Holiday Valley, Swain, Hunt Hollow, etc. I would be happy to work on that with you and other club reps, especially to set up Holimont since I live in Buffalo. My email is luke71352@yahoo.com. Frank Lucas

Are there any trips out west planned for this year?
Response:
Linda, Huggers itself does not run trips anymore. However, we are members of the very large New Jersey Ski and Snowboard Council (NJSSC), and they have at least one trip out west available to everyone. I addition, all other council member clubs make any trips they have planned available to all other council members when they have extra space available. So, checking the NJSSC website is a great place to start. Please note however, almost all trips run these days, due to the extreme high cost of lift tickets, require you to have an IKON pass or to buy your own lift tickets, in addition to the cost of the trip. Some are even “Land only” package and require you to make your own travel arrangement! So please check any trip offer carefully.
Another good source we have used that I highly recommend is Fritz Friedel at Excel Travel. He runs several trips each year and they are almost always great values. You can end him an email and get on his mailing list.

I was a member of Huggers from 1974-2001. Met my husband in Huggers. He was an avid, excellent skier. I hated the Thrill of downhill skiing. Met some of my best friends in Huggers. I was Winter Social Chair. Membership was over 1200 strong. Those were the days. Still friends with the same group after all these decades! Loved those days for sure! We were young and fun. Now we’re young at heart with great memories!
