Member E-Mail
We’ve set up an e-mail group, HSCMail@GoogleGroups.com, as a way for members to easily discuss Huggers events, for delivery of the monthly newsletter and for special notices from Committees or from the Board of Directors. You must be an active Huggers Ski Club member to participate in the Huggers e-mail exchange. You can adjust delivery options or unsubscribe whenever you like.
Upon joining Huggers Ski Club, the e-mail address that you provide with your membership information will be automatically added to HSCMail@GoogleGroups.com and you’ll then begin receiving and be able to send messages.
Members may use the e-mail group to notify other members of matters like changes to scheduled events or to invite members to join them on impromptu outings.
If you have questions or are having problems with Huggers email, please review the information below.

ARE MESSAGES FROM HSCMAIL GOING TO SPAM OR JUNK FOLDER?
Check your spam or junk mail folder. If any of the messages there are from HSCMail or HSCMail@GoogleGroups.com, then you need to indicate to your email provider that messages like this are NOT SPAM. The process is fairly simple but is a bit different for different email systems like Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, etc..
Note that the subject of messages from the group is prefixed with [HSCMail]

IF YOU AREN'T ON THE DISTRIBUTION LIST... (per above)
From the e-mail account you wish to use to receive Huggers Ski Club mail, click this link to send a message that contains your name and phone number. Note that it may take a day or two before your request is approved after which time you should begin seeing messages in your email from HSCMail.
If the above link didn't result in you sending an email (you'll know immediately) then email your name and phone number to the following address:

HOW DO I ACCESS PAST EMAIL MESSAGES?
To view ALL past messages, go to https://groups.google.com/g/hscmail
You'll need a Google account but...
In order to receive email from and participate in Huggers email groups, you must have a Google account but you don’t necessarily need to have a Gmail account.
If you don’t already have a Google Account, you can create one and either also create a Gmail email account or you can use a non-Gmail email address to create one instead. By the way, while creating a Google account you’ll need a phone number to which text messages can be sent by Google.
To use an existing email address instead of a new Gmail:
1. Go to the Google Account Sign In page at https://www.google.com/account/
2. Click Create account
3. From the drop down, select For my personal use
4. Enter your name
5. Click Use my current email address instead
6. Enter your current email address
7. Click Next
8. Verify your email address with the code sent to your existing email
9. Click Verify
About non-Google email accounts
- Direct Adding vs. Inviting: While you can invite non-Gmail addresses, you may not be able to "directly add" them to some groups (specifically those ending in ) without them first accepting an invitation.
- Best Approach: For the best experience, non-Gmail users should create a Google Account using their existing non-Gmail email address. This allows them to manage their subscription, view the group's web page, and post reliably.
- Alternative Method: If a non-Gmail user cannot join via the web interface, they can subscribe by sending an email to from their non-Gmail account.
- Technical Issues: Sometimes, emails sent from Google Groups to non-Gmail providers may be flagged as spam.
You can associate your non-Gmail mail address with a Google account by adding it as an alternate email to an existing Google account.
Add to an existing Google Account
Adding your non-Gmail address as an alternate email allows you to use it for signing in and account recovery.
- Sign in to or create a new Google Account.
- Select Personal info from the left navigation menu.
- In the "Contact info" section, click on Email.
- Select Add alternate email under the "Alternate emails" section (you may need to sign in again).
- Enter your non-Gmail Mail address and click Add.
- Check your non-Gmail inbox for a verification email from Google and click the link to confirm the association.
ARE YOU USING OUTLOOK?
If you're using the Outlook app on your computer as part of Microsoft Office or on a mobile device, it is an email client that can have its own problems. As a result, you should check your Outlook client configuration.
Please, for more help and for future reference, check the entry on this page for "Not receiving email?" where you'll find info that should help you fix problems like this as well as a way to access all past HSCMail group messages outside of your usual email methods.
Also, if you are using the Outlook client or the Outlook mobile app, first verify that you can connect to the Google Groups site as described above by going to https://groups.google.com. If you can read the HSCMail messages there then, that's an indication that you ARE in the HSCMail list and should therefore be receiving all messages.
If you have an outlook.com email address, also try going to Outlook.com. Sign in there to see if you're getting the HSCMail messages. If you are, then the problem is with your Microsoft Office Outlook and/or your Outlook mobile app configuration.
IF ALL ELSE FAILS...
Note that to be part of any of the Huggers Google Groups, you MUST at least have a Google account that is linked to the email address you wish to use to receive messages from the Huggers group OR have a Gmail account.
If you have other questions about or problems with the Huggers Ski Club GoogleGroup mail, click this link to update your contact info. Be sure to include your full name, phone number, and the e-mail address(es) with which you're having problems. You can create a distribution list of contacts in Gmail without using Google Groups by utilizing Google Contacts. Here’s how you can do it:
### Creating a Contact Group in Google Contacts:
1. **Open Google Contacts**:
- Go to [Google Contacts](https://contacts.google.com) and log in with your Google account.
2. **Create a New Label**:
- On the left sidebar, click on "Labels" (or "Create label" in some versions).
- Click on "Create label" and give it a name (e.g., "Distribution List", "Family", "Work", etc.).
- Click "Save."
3. **Add Contacts to the Label**:
- Go to your list of contacts, find the contacts you want to add to this distribution list.
- Select the contacts by checking the box next to their names.
- Click on the "Label" icon at the top of the page (it looks like a tag).
- From the dropdown, select the label you just created, or click "Create label" if you want to create a new one.
4. **Using the Distribution List in Gmail**:
- Open Gmail.
- Click on "Compose" to start a new email.
- In the "To" field, start typing the name of the label you created (for example, "Distribution List"), and it should auto-suggest.
- Select the label, and Gmail will populate the email recipients with all the contacts in that group.
### Tips:
- You can manage and edit your contact groups anytime by going back to Google Contacts.
- If you want to remove a contact from the group, go back to Google Contacts, select the contact, and then uncheck that label.
