After a hearty breakfast of juice, homemade blueberry muffins, French toast, eggs, sausage, bacon, homemade English muffins, coffee and tea, we all went hiking at Whetstone Gulf State Park.
We hiked 5 miles around the rim of a deep scenic gorge. The beauty of the fall colors was at times spectacular!! Saturday afternoon was spent either bike riding, sightseeing, walking through antique shops, or just relaxing. The meal at the lodge Saturday evening was outstanding. We had a fabulous Turkey dinner complete with all the trimmings!! Later that evening, some of us ventured out into
the cool starry night to do our "flashlight" walk through the very old Turin Cemetery.

Sixteen energetic people spent the weekend of October 12, 13, and 14th hiking, biking, sightseeing,
and relaxing in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. We stayed in a charming, early American
home that was built in 1814 and is now a bed and breakfast lodge on a working dairy farm.
Several of us met on Friday afternoon and hiked at Moss Lake. I had the opportunity to snowshoe
there during the cold month of January, 2001, when it was covered with 3 feet of snow. It was
just awesome to hike the exact same areas, but this time to see the beauty of autumn and to be
able to shuffle my feet through the crisp dry leaves on the ground. Friday evening, all of us
ate well at the Steak and Brew Restaurant, which is only about one mile from Turin. The food
was very good and it was interesting to watch the chef/owner prepare Steak Diane for one Hugger
member right at our table.
Sunday morning, after another hearty breakfast and an early morning walk, we all left to either
go home or go sightseeing in Old Forge or go hiking at Delta Lake State Park. We all enjoyed the camaraderie and the flexibility of doing what we all wanted to do. The food, weather, hiking and
all the fine people that went to Turin made it a very enjoyable weekend.
