Pine Creek State Forest, Pennsylvania - October 2-4, 2009

Roughly 28 lucky Huggers had a wonderful and very active weekend at the very nice Susquehannock Lodge Bed & Breakfast in the middle of the Susquehannock Forest in northern Pennsylvania on October 2 - 4. This is the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania area. Unfortunately Mary E., our tireless leader for this and many other wonderful Hugger weekend events, was unable to make this trip due to a last minute flare-up with severe knee pain. We’re happy to report she was able to get some good relief for her pain with a doctor’s visit while the rest of us played in PA.

We had a variety of activities that were planned by several ambitious leaders. These included some very hilly bike rides, a long, flat ride on the bike path along Pine Creek and numerous hikes in and around Pine Creek Canyon and the Denton Ski Areas. Time was also made for Happy Hours each evening for everyone to compare notes on their adventures as well as enjoying shared refreshments and great appetizers. Some people even went into the "big city" of Wellsboro, the nearest thing to a real city in this remote area of Pennsylvania. Ask Don G. about the famous "Dave & Dave" appearance at the Gaslight Bar & Grill in Wellsboro. In all, everyone felt lucky to be a part of this great weekend and were thrilled to hear that Mary had booked the entire lodge again for the same weekend next year.
