Pacesetters... 1999 Snowshoe Shuffle . . . . . Return to "Snowshoeing"

Looking North over Honeoye Lake.

Harriet Hollister Spencer State Park, Honeoye, N.Y. - December 19, 1999

A beautiful day with 4-5 inches of snow greeted the 14 Hugger adventurers who took part in this first ever event on December 19th. Pack, Paddle, Ski, Inc. of Lima, NY, led them into the wilderness to teach them how to climb hills and maneuver around rocks, logs, and trees. They hiked on park trails and into the woods, shuffling through virgin snow. Advanced skills, such as doing the Hokey-Pokey and the Electric Slide on snowshoes, were also taught. This you have to see (we have pictures). At day's end, all enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies (provided by PPS) while exchanging war stories of their experiences, and left for home with a smile on their faces. Thanks to all participants, PPS, and the Hugger Organization for your support of this new and fun Hugger activity! Check your newsletter for future events. - Dave K.
