Little Pine State Park 2007 . . . . . . . Return to "Camping Trips" or "Biking Events"

Our late July weekend getaway run by Kathy M. and Bob D. included first class service for all eight ladies and lucky Carl P., the only single guy. Friday night we walked to dinner at the local restaurant where we were served huge meals at a great price, most ordering the seafood combo for $12.50. (Camping and the Bob related food items only cost us $12 per head for the whole weekend!)

Saturday morning we woke early and Bob served us a full breakfast of eggs, bacon, coffee and much more. We were all ready to bike by 9:15 a.m. Some chose the flat bike path along the river, while others chose to road bike the same route. We toured for 33 miles with two ice cream stops. Once back at our cars, we walked into the river, bike clothes and all to cool off. Saturday night we enjoyed a dish to pass dinner including Bob’s grilled hots and hamburgs, followed by chit chat and a moonlight stroll.

Sunday some biked 18 miles while others hiked for a few hours, then we all went tubing down the river. Despite a rainy forecast, we only had 15 minutes of light rain late Sunday afternoon and we were already wet. We saw a bald eagle while on the river and heard loud sawing noises at night. While Melinda was conjuring visions of bears in the woods, most likely the sawing noises were from woodpeckers or porcupines scratching the trees for insects. At one point the ladies changed their hiking route to avoid "roadkill" that turned out to be Melinda’s brown t-shirt. We experienced more fright listening to Barb’s wild animal encounters here at home. The area Kathy and Bob chose was very scenic and made for biking, so don’t miss out next summer.
