Lake Placid Winterlude Weekend
Lake Placid, N.Y. - January 25-28, 2007
Lake Placid turned out to be a great trip. We started off with very COLD weather, but we had SNOW, and that's all we needed. On Friday many of us skied at the mountain, which was the coldest day of all. I believe it was -20º at the top of the mountain, but the brave ones skied all day! Some skied all 3 days, and some of us shopped and took in the town sites on Saturday, and found some good buys, or not!
Sat. night after dinner we met back at the Inn for dancing and singing again. Remember the Goldschlager!! On Sunday, a beautiful day even a little warmer, some of the brave ones, like Craig E., who has been waiting 25 or more years to go on the Bobsled ride, finally got their chance. Right on, Craig, and of course his wife Kathy went too. Some, namely Barb and Jean, went out to Mt. Van Hoevenberg where they had a great time Cross-Country Skiing. There was a free shuttle that took us to the mountain for skiing and to town, and there was cab service for the right price. Sunday some of us went on a dogsled ride on Lake Placid, which was great; the dogs are beautiful and some were very frisky! We made it home to Rochester about 9:30 or so, only to find our cars all snow covered, however everyone helped those whose who needed it. Thanks so much to all the guys who helped Dianne and me load and of course unload the bus in Lake Placid and when we got home; greatly appreciated! This was a trip that may not have happened except for a lot of hard work, and perseverance on Dianne K.’s part especially and me too.
