Jell-O Gallery . . . . . . . Return to "Other Neat Stuff"

April 15, 2007
Jell-O was our theme for the day! Sunday afternoon was a good time to be indoors at the historical LeRoy House, Jell-O Museum and Transportation Exhibit for 12 Huggers and four guests. Our tour guide for the LeRoy House was upbeat and interesting. We learned about Ingham University for women, and the many former residents of the LeRoy House. The rooms in the house were open for close viewing and the nursery had usable toys for little children. I also saw some adults trying the toys. At the Jell-O Museum our guide told us several humorous Jell-O related stories. One story confirmed what most of us thought, that chocolate is a fruit. Did you know Jell-O is NOT made from horse’s hooves? The tour began with the invention of Jell-O, onto how Jell-O became a common household food, and continued with all the Jell-O flavors, and recipes. The gift shop had everything Jell-O, from T-shirts to recipes. Down the stairs from the Jell-O Museum is the newly opened Transportation Exhibit. We examined buggies, wagons, sleighs, bikes, and a 1908 un-restored Cadillac. Next stop was dinner at the D&R Depot. It was good food and conversation. The last stop was to have some Jell-O dessert at the leader’s home.
