Jackson Hole 2004 . . . . . . . Return to "Downhill Skiing"

February 7-14, 2004
Eleven crazed madmen visited the vertically inclined mountain with intentions to tear it up. The cast of characters included Joe Palooka and Mutant Ninja Aunt Jemima Skier. Our local mountain ski patrollers on this trip would have incurred the wrath of many environmental groups given all the damaged trees due to their glade skiing prowess. Buck Run contributed to back-to-back yard sales for one adventurous participant. One yard sale on Rendezvous Bowl lead to a arduous search for skis and poles...all recovered except one pole. When a pole was lent by the mountain as a temporary replacement, an unnamed mechanical engineer in the group thought he could straighten the slightly bent loaner and shortened it by six inches in the process. Another in the group left a trail of equipment during the week from Rochester to Jackson Hole, hoping the female bump skiers in Rochester would follow him. Overall the week was a lot of fun and each day was properly celebrated with an après-ski get together at the Mangy Moose Bar. One evening in particular turned into a wild affair due to vast consumption of beverages and appreciation for the nightlife. Is that why at least one skier was frequently seen talking to a tree? An unnamed source reported a flushing down the toilet bowl. (The toilet bowl is a secret, local run.) Terry M. won the award for most vertical feet skied. A good time was had by all.
