Saturday morning most of us toured the park on a five-mile hike while others attended the Park Ranger’s fossil hunt and creek walk along with a bat lecture. After a hearty lunch with tasty chili & soups, people split up to enjoy a sunny, warm, afternoon in the mid-60’s. Some pulled out their mountain bikes to practice jumping rocks and logs. Steve P. is lucky we recognized him with all the mud on his face. Some hiked to see the famous bear caves and Thunder Rocks or toured the pond where a cloud of ladybugs swarmed the hikers to hitch a ride. Some shopped the outlet stores and others canoed. By late afternoon, we were back at the camp enjoying a happy hour followed by dinner before the Halloween party.
It was a good thing we crammed our outdoor activities into Saturday because part way through our Sunday morning hike it began to rain. After another great lunch of chili & soups we packed up and headed home. Thanks to everyone who brought and prepared food. It was fabulous. Richard & Joyce’s seafood chowder was gone as soon as they brought it out. Trudy made a great cabbage soup. Gary D. and John & Carol made great chili. Gary C. made a wonderful lentil soup. The breakfast detail did a fabulous job both days as did the Saturday supper crew. We have some really great cooks in this Club.
Be on the lookout for next year’s Halloween Party event. From the sounds of the planning, it should be a great time and you won’t want to miss it.
