HALLOWEEN CABIN CAMPING - October 19-21, 2001
Cabin 2 was visited by the invisible chain saw murderer as was evidenced by the
loud sawing. They had a furry friend who kept dropping in to use the bathroom
and there were complaints that eyes were everywhere "watching you". They had
a graveyard scene you could really dig. The only time spirits dropped was when
the skull fell off the wall. Cindy’s attempt at a roaring fire was a sputtering
failure until Denny and Gary produced the lighter.
Chuck had most of Cabin 3 decorated by the time his cabin mates arrived. Even the
decorations came to life and the skull danced to the sounds of "Good Vibrations."
Mary retired for the evening for a one-person game of rattrap.
Saturday saw much hiking, biking and pumpkin carving. Mike’s freehand "Mr. Peepers"
was fabulous and Cindy’s first time try at "Pretty Kitty" and Denny and Kari’s
carvings of R.I.P. and Tomb Raider were quite effective. Our pumpkin display was
truly awesome!
Everyone dressed for supper, which was a bring-a-dish supper. We had good food and
high "spirits." Costumed participants went around the campground treating other
campers to their version of "Ghouls on Parade", handing out free spiders amid cries
of "On to Cabins B, C, & D". Our one lone angel had quite a time keeping the
majority of our ghouls in line. In fact, she had to take them under her wing.
Thanks to everyone for his or her creativity, for entering into the "spirit" of
the event, and for making it a fun and upbeat weekend. We plan to do this again
next year. Save the date - October 25-27, 2002.
Our thanks to Denny and Mike for their time, ideas, support, and help. We couldn’t
do it without you guys! See the participants for more details.
To the strains of Wow!, EEEEEEK!, and the "Monster Mash", the weekend got underway.
Twenty participants came to Letchworth State Park to have fun and party!
Each cabin was provided with basic Halloween decorations but many brought
their own to add to the fun. Carol & Jon had Cabin 1 in good spirits by the
time their cabin mates arrived. They had a dish that looked real but we were
assured was snot. Party favors were nothing to sneeze at but there was a lot
of coffin going on.
