After a quick lunch and a fill up on beer or wine, it was time to rev up the golf carts and watch 47 golfers scatter to 9 different holes. A special thanks to Samia and Joyce for their effort in keeping our libations flowing. After a wonderful day on the course, we moved the party inside for a buffet dinner. This year’s first place winners were the foursome of Richard J, Chris K, Kevin B, and Sharon B. Finishing in second place were Ken P, Cindy H, John L. and Patty D. Third place went to Lou & Judy C, Carmela, and Roger. The longest drive for the women was won by Brenda and for the men, Roger. Closest to the pin for the women was won by Cindy H, and for the men, Richard J. This year’s foursome of Bill H, Brenda, Deb M. and Dave C. won the consolation prize, with each receiving a battery operated stroke counter to assist in adding up all those extra strokes. As the sun set on the day, we all left with many wonderful memories and some stories, which you may hear about in the weeks ahead. Till next year! Fore!
Just a big thanks to Bob D. for running a fun golf day on Sunday. The weather was great, the people were fun, and the food was delicious; just needed some coffee! Maybe next year? Maybe next year I'll know what I'm doing; so thanks to the people I golfed with for their patience; Frank, Harold, & Flo, we had fun, and thanks to Chic for giving us our refreshments, next year you'll be able to golf too. Sunday, June 22, 2003 Pinewood Golf Club - Spencerport, N.Y.
On June 22, a Hugger's golf tournament was held at the Pinewood Golf Club in Spencerport. This was in memory of John L. who passed away earlier this year. John was probably the most avid golfer in the club and as his good friend, Al M. stated in his dinner toast, "John probably had a lot to do with making the weather so perfect". And perfect, it was! It was definitely a 'golfer's delight'.
Ten teams competed and several non-golfers came later to join us for dinner. And the winners were...
A charitable putting contest in John's name was held and a non-golfer, Gary D, won. He was so thrilled with his unknown skill that he even brought a putter the following weekend to practice at his campsite at Delta Lake! So, Tom F., where were you that day and where was the traveling golf trophy you kept referring to?
