Eighth Lake 2002 . . . . . . . Return to "Camping Trips"

When the first wave of our 16 campers arrived, they set up their tents and promptly sat down to enjoy the view of the lake from their sites. Melinda set up and promptly went swimming, joined shortly thereafter by Peter and Scott. It took Kari and Denny a bit longer to set up their palace.

Weather was great the whole weekend long. It was cold enough that you snuggled close to the campfire and could seep at night. Upon arising in the morning, you could see your breath in the air and mist on the lake. What a nice change from the hot weather back home.

We did have one problem, the Park Ranger "Barney" made Carol & Jon and Barb & Gary move their tents because it was over the "imaginary line" from the fence post toward the picnic area.

Wayne & Steve did a 60-mile ride up to Long Lake for breakfast at the Adirondack Hotel on Saturday. They arrived in time for lunch instead. Bruce & Mary checked out their mountain bikes on the trails nearby.

Some took to their canoes during the afternoon. The lake was fairly quiet - not a lot of motors. The only bad spot was the black flies they encountered after leaving the island.

Swimming was a popular sport during the weekend. Many took to walking around the campground areas (you could also access Seventh Lake from our campground).

Everyone brought a dish to pass for supper both nights and the food, as always, was quite varied and delicious. We had spacious, shaded sites only a short walk from the sandy beach. Everyone loved the area and would like to go back again.
