Cranberry Lake 2000 . . . . . . . Return to "Camping Trips"

Gary had a very good turnout for Cranberry Lake even with wet weather Friday night and wet weather off and on Saturday. Plenty of good food and fun. There were hikers, a bike ride, and a canoe trip on the Oswegatchie River. Jeff, Carol, and I had a royal dunking as the canoe tipped over. It still was a great canoe trip led by Bruce. For me and some others, it brought back memories of the Long Lake canoe trips with the Club. Saturday night was singing, dancing, and a hot campfire to sit by. Gary makes the best margaritas I've ever had. He doesn't use a mix.

Cranberry Lake State Campground is off N.Y. Rt. 3, Cranberry Lake N.Y., in the western part of the Adirondacks. It is the third-largest lake within the Park and is adjacent to some of it's least traveled wilderness areas. The site makes a good base camp for exploring some serious wilderness areas by foot or canoe. The hamlet of Cranberry Lake is the place for basic supplies, but the campsite is miles away from what would be considered a large town (such as Tupper Lake).
