2007 End of Season Party . . . . . . . Return to "Biking Events"

Hi all!
It was another great bicycling season. The End of Season Bike Party on November 3rd was a big hit again. We ate a lot and danced a lot to celebrate how much we bicycled a lot. Don G. projected some great photos on a screen from the 2007 year. We have increased our number of miles, number of events and number of riders. We had 204 individual bicycle riders this year. The number of ride events for 2007 is up from the 2006 cycling season, 101 events in 2006 and 125 events for 2007! Go team, Go! Many thanks to everyone who volunteered leading all our bicycle rides this season.

Our top ride leader this year is Dick T, leading 10 rides. Thank you to Dick for supporting all those "west-side rides" and some impromptu rides. Mike and Peggy added a whole lot of fun with 9 rides led for us. Thank you to Iris for managing the bicycling event schedule.

We had a nice variety of events this year, including a few unique rides and more weekday-daytime rides. A few of the unique events were Bob and Kathy’s "Bike Rally" in East Palmyra and Iris’s "Poker ride" in East Irondequoit (by the way, we counted the cards, someone ran off with the queen of hearts!). The "Stone Saddle" award for the 2007 season went to Jules, with 1,886 miles ridden. Jules, I don’t think I have even seen you NOT on a bike. Enjoy that award, we are proud of you, and get ready for next biking season! You may have some tough competition because Iris is making the women look good with the highest number of miles ridden in the "women’s division". Yes, we now have a "Women’s Stone Saddle" award, fabricated by our very own "Pedal Power Partner" Wendy. It was presented to Iris who took Pedal-Power first of 1,324 miles. So, not only do Iris and Jules have stone saddles, they both also did get the award for most events attended. That is 58 ride events! What can I say - Get a Life?!! (What happened to that award anyway?).

Another new special award was given this year. It was the "Soft Seat" award for the least miles ridden. It was presented to Samia for 1 mile ridden. Let me remind you - Samia does have a life. We kicked up our feet on the dance floor at the End of Season party with her IPOD tunes! Great to see you out on the bike with us, Samia. The "Three Amigos", Chuck H, Joe D, and John P. were given a shirt built for three (could not find a bike like that). News is out that they have been successfully separated, but they seem to stay within a 5-foot radius of each other. I hear that they are enjoying their t-shirts and plan to "sport" them for us sometime soon. Many other great awards were handed out at the party on November 3. Check the YahooGroups email for the full list of all the riders’ miles.
- Cassie
