2005 End of Season Party . . . . . . . Return to "Biking Events"

Thanks to Iris for throwing a really fun bash to celebrate another great year of biking. We were blessed with an unusually warm fall day, so people took advantage and biked or hiked before our scrumptious, catered dinner. The awards ceremony was particularly enjoyable this year as veteran hosts Dewitt and Bob D. announced the most outstanding bikers.

Outstanding didn’t necessarily mean most miles. There were quite a few amusing awards; Chuck G. awarded Dewitt the "squished puppy award" for his collision with a dog; Bernie awarded Bob D. the "golden tow rope award" after Bernie’s chain broke and Bob borrowed a neighbor’s rope to tow/push Bernie six miles back towards his car; Stu won the "concrete butt award" this year for recording the most miles ridden; Iris got the award for participating in the most events, 59 of 141; Kathy W. won the "Conversion Factor: Moving From Metric, Inch by Inch award" for mistakenly reading/reporting her distance in kilometers versus miles (oops); Janet C. was awarded a yellow jersey for "Most Improved Rider", after which she danced the night away; Dave K. received the "Hugger Harum Award" for being the only male on a weekday ride with 12 women; and Wendy awarded Iris a special Hugger bike top with panels to hold ice packs in strategic spots for those really hot summer days. Very funny!
