2004 End of Season Party . . . . . . . Return to "Biking Events"

What a fabulous party and way to end the bike season! A hearty six people biked this mild but windy day. Afterwards, a large group hiked the park. Once the trails turned into ponds, most headed back, while eight lead by Bruce bushwhacked to get their full two-hour hike.

Once again, Jim W. did a great job in running this party including a catered dinner, yummy desserts, entertaining awards ceremony presented in just one hour’s time, and dancing. Although this was a rainy year, the total number of rides was 146, which was almost as many as last year. The total club miles were 58,408, similar to last season. The average number of miles per rider was 25.3, which is the highest average in five years. Jim rode the most rides (62), and Rich T. earned the "Concrete Butt Award" for most miles ridden (1,790). Rich was given a rock bike seat cleverly designed by Wendy, a coveted award to be passed on to next season’s winner. Steve P. earned many kudos including "Most Sadistic Ride Leader"; look out for his new whip! Wendy’s "turtle toss" earned best wildlife story and was less scary than all those huge snake stories.

Mike R. was given all kinds of protective gear as winner of the "Evil Knievel/Crash Award". Other gag awards included a unique bike repair tool complete with string to Dan K. and Bob DeR. There were many thank yous to all the people who lead and supported rides and many valuable door prizes (helmet, bike gear, massage and hair style gift certificates, etc). Iris has agreed to do next year’s bike schedule, IF NO ONE ELSE STEPS FORWARD. Dewitt, who missed the party due to work out of town this month, will NOT be tracking statistics next year; so we REALLY NEED A REPLACEMENT. The members who have tracked stats in the past would be happy to set up a new volunteer, so have no fear. For questions on these job duties, please contact any board member or Gary at 426-8107.
