NO-TALENT NEW YEAR’S WEEKEND!
Saturday, December 29, 2007 - Tuesday, January 1, 2008

Thanks to Carol and Jon, more than 35 Huggers had another excellent New Year’s weekend at the ‘deluxe’ Camp Allegany. The weather cooperated and even gave us a little bit of snow on top of the frozen trails for the cross-country skiers and snow-shoe fans.

The highlight of the weekend was the innovative "no-talent talent show." Featured this year were several singing groups (the "Newbies plus 1" (Karen E, Barbara H, Cindy H., and now Laura H.), Frank L. in a remarkable drag performance as two different women, and a return visit from the King himself, Elvis, and a number of creative individual performances that are impossible to adequately describe here and do justice. Fortunately, there is a video record (courtesy of Bob DeR.) of these historical performances that will live longer than perhaps the performers would like. Sadly, the King reported that he is going into retirement for a while. A new entry this year that proved to be a big hit was Marcia’s ‘Miss Sexy Piggy’ performance to the tune of "Santa Baby".

Everyone pitched in with rotating cooking and KP duty in the commercial kitchen at the camp. And we have definitely determined that not everyone cares for Boca sausage, as it was conspicuously avoided on the dining room table. A great time was had, which will not be repeated in the same way next year because New Year’s falls in the middle of the week.
